Fragile. Kids would be frustrated building this. One tiny attachment on too many parts.

I build a lot of these puzzle sets so believe me when I say I really enjoy putting this kind of model together. But this is the first one that made me rage quit. I took a picture of the point at which I quit, too. Step 442. I think that was part of the tail. This particular part had several pieces put together in unconventional ways and there were also multiple pieces that were stuck together with only half the attachment points they should have. In theory, this would have looked cool. In practice, it was impossible to put all these pieces together and get them to stay together. Wasn't happening. And then when you DID try to install it onto the unicorn, something else fell off, usually one of the legs or several of the flower embellishments. Two of the legs had pieces in the way that wouldn't allow them to seat properly and so they were constantly in danger of falling off. Bump them a little and they fell off.

Many of the flower embellishments on this model were there to make this look pretty. Most of them held together pretty well, especially if they didn't contain too many parts. But I have a picture of the purple flower that was SO poorly engineered that I could only put half the pieces on it. You can see in my picture that is has four petals. It was supposed to have eight. Good luck getting all of them on. Put one on, one falls off. Put one on the other side, two fall off. It was a comedy of errors trying to make this work. I gave up and left it with four petals just BARELY hanging on. And if I had to adjust something on the base near this flower, a purple petal fell off. You could almost breathe on these petals and make them fall off. That sounds like a joke but it is NOT.

And this is a crucial point. If I couldn't put this set together as a patient and level-headed adult, there's NO WAY an impatient and frustrated child is going to do this. They wouldn't stick with it. And at the point you encounter this purple flower you haven't even started to build the unicorn yet! That's what baffles me. They have you put all these embellishments down on the base filling it up with all manner of flowers and THEN they expect you to put the unicorn in place after you've put all the flowers down. Needless to say I wrecked a whole bunch of work just trying to get the unicorn on its stands. By the time I got it where it needed to be, two of the unicorn's legs had fallen off, much of the fragile flowers on the stand were ruined, and much of the flower embellishment on the unicorn's body had fallen off. Why would you ask your customer to put on ALL of the flower embellishments BEFORE you even get the main body of the unicorn in place? I don't understand the logic.

The sad part is that this company did do a decent job engineering the main body of the horse. The white pieces held together pretty well and felt solid. There were some creative design ideas on the legs that I had rarely seen in other sets like this. But then they had to go and add flower after flower that attached with one, tiny dot. One tiny dot to hold maybe 10 pieces that had been melded together to form a sort of flower. It's too much weight for one dot and won't stay on it it's bumped.

This was a frustrating build for an adult but a child would never finish this. I cannot give this any score higher than 2 stars because of the fragility of the product after you put it together and for how difficult to add more and more embellishments to this product which makes it an exercise in futility. If you are looking for a LEGO-type puzzle for your child I wouldn't recommend this one for you unless your child has the patience of a saint and/or doesn't mind if the product doesn't get finished in the end.

One other odd thing - there is a blank Thank You card in the box with this model. I figured it was a thank you for purchasing this product or something but no - it's a blank card with a picture of the finished unicorn that you can fill out and send. LOL. Very weird addition to the product and I cannot envision myself sending a thank you like this to anybody. I think this is just a confusing addition to the product and I question why this company even included it.

Overall 2 stars.

Really fun and unique, but a bit damaged

Right up front, I find myself wondering if these guys are just using Vine to get rid of damaged product from their warehouse. The shipping box was perfectly intact, with no visible issues, but the product box was pretty badly mangled. And some of the other photos from other customers seem to show boxes that are pretty beat up as well. Seems a bit suspect.

That said, this set is really cool and unique. In terms of complexity, I'd say it's solidly intermediate. If you do a lot of brick sets, this is probably a couple of evenings. If you're a novice, maybe 3 or 4 evenings. But I don't really seeing any other set quite like this, so I'm glad I picked it up. I do a lot of floral bouquet sets, and I've done a few animal sets, but this one kind of combines the two, with an element of fantasy as well. I'm not quite sure where or how I'm going to display it, but it's definitely a cool project. If you're into flowers, animals, fantasy genre, or anything like that, give this one a try. It's very high quality, the bricks fit up pretty much perfectly, the instructions are very nicely illustrated and clear, the colors are very vibrant, and the finished form is very visually dynamic. That pretty much hits all the notes for a really cool showpiece. I'm really glad I found this one.

A piece of art

Not our first Sillbird building set. This set comes with 1472 pieces and the quality is very good. Completed the measurement of the unicorn is about 36 cm high and about 39 cm in length.

There are a lot of uniquely shaped block pieces, especially the flower pieces. The instruction book is detailed and well printed.

This was one of the most satisfying builds i have worked on and the unicorn looks great on our shelf.

Recommended for both kids and adults

Took a long time but looks great when done

This unicorn building set is very unique and looks very nice when finished. I will say it's definitely a challenging build that kept me engaged for hours. I enjoy taking my time with intricate projects like this, but I would say it's best for adults or older kids who are ready for a longer-term commitment. There were many times when building when I thought they could have used a bigger piece instead of having to attach all the small ones together, but when done, it can make it look more complex. Overall, it's a rewarding experience to see the final product come together, and it looks very unique!

Stunningly Beautiful

When I saw this I was instantly reminded of the animals in the video game Horizon Zero Dawn. The flowers on the fantastic and fantastically designed winged unicorn are very similar to the organic robot creature designs.

The kids like to stretch their abilities by doing building kits they think are just out of the range of their abilities so this extremely complicated expert level model is going to be a lot of fun. The model has a lot of flower and tiny pieces that you have to be very careful so you don't knock them off just by touching the model. The pieces stick together really well but when they're this small you just have to be conscience of what's going on.

The instructions are really well written with detailed indicators what bags to use for each section and the steps are easy to follow with great diagrams showing what to do.

This is a stunning model that's wonderfully made.
